Broadway Brunch & Bistro began as a brunch and theatre centered event on Sunday mornings as an alternative to traditional church. It became an immediate hit! Instantly, overall attendance doubled, sometimes tripling regular attendance, with visitors regularly measuring 50-80% of the audience. (Very rare numbers in today’s religious environments.)
We have learned that community enjoys safer, brave, and non-judgmental spaces to gather and grow gently at their own pace.
It also did not take long to realize that audiences needed more support with their palpably emotive responses to our productions. Since the third brunch, community experts on each play’s theme join us to provide support and additional resources. Caregivers are better able to help aging loved ones living with Alzheimer’s Disease. Residents are empowered to help curb the effects of gentrification in their neighborhoods and to advocate for affordable housing. Those grieving the loss of loved ones have more confidential places to go to share their feelings and to heal.
And today, after so many have expressed a desire for more available times to enjoy Broadway Brunch™, we are adding a Broadway Bistro™ experience that will happen in the evenings. We’re also producing experiences for extended runs ranging from one to three (1-3) months at various locations.
